Today, Gretchen Rubin reminded me that it will soon be National Novel Writing Month again. I’ve written before about my languishing novel, and Rubin suggests a writing bootcamp is just the thing to get a novel finished.
Instead of doing a little bit each day, Rubin suggests doing more. That way, your juices get flowing, you see connections and inspiration everywhere you look, and you don’t need time to get up to speed when you have a few moments to write.
If you want more help, Rubin highly recommends Chris Baty’s book No Plot? No Problem! (Note that, in the preceding sentence, no period follows the exclamation point in the book title. Exclamation and question marks take precedence over periods.) She successfully followed the book’s tips to write a novel in a month.
Baty, of course, is the founder of NaNoWriMo, so he knows what it takes to bang out a story.
